Mein Name ist Otto Maier, in der Musikszene in und um Bremen auch als Dr OM bekannt. Seit über 30 Jahren unterrichte ich Schlaginstrumente und habe viele Menschen auf ihrem musikalischen Weg begleitet. Mit der Entdeckung der Handpan 2007 begann ein neues Zeitalter in meiner musikalischen Entwicklung.
Die Faszination der sphärischen Klänge, gepaart mit meiner Erfahrung im rhythmischen Bereich, ist dieses Instrument festes Bestandteil meines Lebens und meines künstlerischen Ausdrucks geworden.
In meinem Unterricht geht es nicht um starre Regeln oder Leistungsdruck. Für mich gibt es keine Fehler- nur Schritte, die die Lernenden weiterbringen.
Meine Kurse sind für alle Altersgruppen geeignet. Ich begleite sowohl AnfängerInnen als auch fortgeschrittene SpielerInnen, die sich Anregung und Weiterentwicklung wünschen. Musiktheorie kann, wenn gewünscht, Teil des Workshops sein, praxisnah, spielerisch und mit Freude am Klang. Ob in der Gruppe oder im Einzelunterricht, mein Ziel ist es, den Zugang zur Handpan, so einfach und inspirierend wie möglich zu gestalten und betrachte mich dabei als Begleiter einer musikalischen Reise.

My name is Otto Maier, also known as Dr OM in the music scene in and around Bremen For over 30 years, I have taught percussion instruments and accompanied many people on their musical journey. The discovery of the handpan in 2007 marked the beginning of a new era in my musical development.
The fascination with its ethereal sounds, combined with my experience in rhythm, has made this instrument an integral part of my life and artistic expression.
My teaching is not about rigid rules or performance pressure. For me, there are no mistakes—only steps that help students progress.
My courses are suitable for all ages. I work with both beginners and advanced players who are looking for inspiration and further development. Music theory can be included in the workshop, if desired—practical, playful, and with a focus on the joy of sound. Whether in a group or in individual lessons, my goal is to make access to the handpan as easy and inspiring as possible, and I see myself as a companion on a musical journey.
