GET TO KNOW OUR TEACHER & FACILITATOR TEAM

MALTE MARTEN
Founder & Teaching Expert

  • Hey, I’m Malte Marten. For many years, I’ve been sharing my passion for the handpan - teaching, performing, and guiding people in group settings, creative workshops, and 1:1 sessions. Over time, I felt the desire to pass on not just the instrument itself, but also the proven methods, experiences, and insights I’ve developed along the way. This is how the Malte Marten Method and our Teacher Training came to life.

In this training, I’ll support you especially when it comes to the practical side of teaching - from lesson planning and methodology to structuring your classes and interacting with students. I’ll share with you the tools that have worked for me, so you can adapt them for your own path. I’ll also pass on what I’ve learned about turning my passion into a profession. I’m excited to walk this journey with you.

Johann Immanuel - A man holding a steel handpan instrument outdoors, wearing a sleeveless red vest, with a neutral expression, against a blurred background.

JOHANN IMMANUEL
Host & Instructional Design

  • Hi, I’m Immi. As the host, coordinator, and a passionate handpan enthusiast myself, I’ll be guiding you through the Teacher Training – and I’m truly excited to walk this path together with you.

My own journey began a few years ago, when I joined Malte’s retreats as a handpan player eager to learn. Those times were deeply inspiring and full of valuable lessons. When Malte shared his vision for the Teacher Training, I knew right away that I wanted to be part of it. Since then, I’ve been closely involved in shaping the program and translating it into a clear and accessible form.

Because I know the training inside and out, I’ll be your go-to person for questions, guidance, and support as you find your way through the process. I’m also passionate about sharing my knowledge of didactics – the art of teaching and learning – as well as exploring the unique “coaching dynamics” between teacher, student, and instrument.

I’m really looking forward to this journey with you.

Leander Greitemann - A smiling man with long curly hair, beard, and nose piercing, wearing a white shirt with a circular logo, standing against a blurred green background.

LEANDER GREITEMANN
Music Theory

  • Hey, I’m Leander Govinda Greitemann. All my life, I’ve been excited about sharing and teaching topics to others. In my non-musical life, I am an author, keynote speaker, and trainer. I have also been deeply passionate about music for as long as I can remember—but when the Handpan came into my life, it changed everything. Now, I give concerts and teach Handpan in a variety of contexts. I love sharing basic insights into music theory as a gateway to intuitive playing and limitless creativity. For me, it’s not about playing from your head, but about using your knowledge and understanding to let go—allowing music to flow effortlessly and enabling you to jam freely with others. I’m here to help you add more understanding and knowledge about the Handpan and music in general to your playing and future teaching.

Julie Follin - Woman with long hair holding a hand drum with painted designs, close to her face with closed eyes.

JULIE FOLLIN
Community Support

  • Hi, I’m Julie - Community Support & MMM Team Member. Passionate about Handpan for 5 years, my journey took a magical turn when I discovered Malte on Instagram in 2023. The first teacher training session was then the gentle starting point of a new life, that spark that transformed everything.

I have the joy of being part of the MMM team as Community Support, this caring link between our wonderful community and the teaching team. Now a certified MMM Handpan teacher, I teach with all my love and kindness.

The Handpan represents much more than an instrument for me: it's a soothing refuge, this wonderful way to weave authentic connections between souls. This vision tenderly guides my support of our community.

My role? To listen to you, understand your needs, share your joys as well as your questions, and accompany you with gentleness in this precious adventure 💙

Julia Changeofcolours - A young woman with long hair, wearing a hat, layered necklaces, and a beige top, smiling with a hand-rolled pose, holding a handpan musical instrument in front of her.

JULIA BAIER
Video Editing

  • Hey, I’m Julia / Changeofcolours. As my artist name may already tell, I’m a handpan player who loves exploring the many shades of expression - both in music and in visuals. In the Teacher Training, I’m here to guide you through the world of color grading and video editing, so you can bring your music to life not only through sound, but also through the way it looks and feels on screen.

For me, the handpan is all about connection and emotion - and I see video editing the same way. Just as a single note can shift the mood of a song, a subtle change in color can completely transform the atmosphere of your video. I want to help you discover how these two creative worlds can work together to tell your story.

I’ve been working alongside Malte for years, helping turn his vision into visuals that carry the same energy as his music. Now, I want to help you do the same - to give you the skills and confidence to create videos that are as unique and expressive as your playing.

Gerdus Oosthuizen - A man with long curly hair and a slight smile, wearing a white shirt, a necklace with a pendant, and a yellow patterned cardigan, stands against a greenish background with a partial sunburst design.

GERDUS OOSTHUIZEN
Audio Editing

  • I’m Gerdus Oosthuizen, also known as Bummela.

I’m a music producer, sound designer, and mixing/mastering engineer with a deep love for creating immersive sonic worlds. Over the past years I’ve specialized in recording and shaping acoustic instruments, with a special passion for the unique voice of the handpan. My studio work ranges from delicate solo recordings to full productions, always with the intention of letting the natural beauty of the instrument shine.

In the Malte Marten Method training, I guide you through the world of mixing and mastering. I’ll share the practical tools and workflows that help transform raw recordings into vibrant, polished tracks, without losing the organic warmth and soul of your playing. Beyond the technical side, my focus is to empower you to listen more deeply, to understand how sound translates emotionally, and to bring confidence to your creative process.

For me, working with sound is both an art and a spiritual practice. I’m excited to pass on what I’ve learned, so that your music can reach its fullest potential and touch the hearts of others.

Adrian Ley - A smiling man with dark hair wearing a light beige sweater, standing confidently with arms crossed in front of a green background with faint yellow circular patterns.

ADRIAN LEY
Marketing

  • Hey, I’m Adrian. In the Teacher Training, I’m here to guide you through a part of the journey that often happens behind the scenes – marketing. Why? Because I truly believe there are so many people out there searching for help to learn this beautiful instrument. And when we understand how to reach them, it becomes so much easier for you, as future teachers, to share your gift.

I’ve been with the Malte Marten Method since day one, watching this community grow into something powerful and inspiring. In the Teacher Training, I’ll share with you the tools and strategies you can use to make yourself visible, connect with the right people, and shape your own path as a teacher – in a way that feels authentic to you.

I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned, supporting you along the way, and working together to bring the handpan into more people’s lives.

Chris Kamps - A young man with long hair, a mustache, and a beard, smiling, wearing a brown jacket and a white t-shirt, against a background with abstract lines.

CHRIS KAMPS
Facilitation

  • Hey, I’m Chris. I’m excited to share my insights, simple techniques, and supportive perspectives on facilitation – the essential foundation for inviting your students into your space with openness and trust.

Before joining the Malte Marten Method in 2023, I worked as a somatic coach and mentor. Through workshops, retreats, and 1:1 sessions, I learned how to create learning environments where participants feel safe, open up, and connect more deeply – both with themselves and with others.

I believe the handpan is much more than an instrument – it carries a natural healing frequency that touches people on a deeper level. With some of the core principles of the Malte Marten Method, we can support our students in experiencing this depth through self-expression and authenticity.

I look forward to meeting you in the expert call – and wish you a meaningful and empowering path in becoming a Handpan Teacher.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Yes, you need to have some experience with the handpan and play regularly. However, we don’t set strict requirements regarding the number of months or years you’ve been playing. Everyone learns at their own pace: some people make great progress in just four months of intensive practice, while others may have been playing for two years but haven’t practiced as consistently.

What’s important is that you’ve spent some time with the handpan and are familiar with it, so you can fully grasp and internalize the content of our training and eventually pass it on to others.

If you’re unsure whether your current level is sufficient, this can be discussed during our Discovery Call.

Fundamentally, we believe that anyone who has learned something and feels the desire to share that knowledge is ready to become a teacher — or may already be one. So if you have the passion to deepen your understanding of the handpan and share that knowledge with others, you’re warmly welcome to join our training.

  • Yes. The entire training is conducted in English, so you should have a basic understanding of spoken and written English to follow the sessions and materials.

Since the program is fully online, you’ll also need basic computer skills and access to a laptop, stable internet connection, and the ability to work with standard online tools (e.g., video calls, digital documents, and online platforms).

These are simple but essential requirements to ensure you can actively participate in all sessions and make the most of your learning experience.

You don’t need a specific handpan for the training, but it can be advantageous to have a D Kurd scale, or ideally, two handpans with the same scale. This makes it easier for you to start teaching right away.

However, if you don’t meet these criteria, that’s absolutely fine — through our partnership with the Yatao Shop, we can provide you with a handpan under special conditions for the duration of the training.

  • Yes. As a trainee, you have the opportunity to receive individualized sponsorships to support you in offering 1:1 lessons and group workshops.
