The E Amara is one of those rare handpan scales that can feel incredibly accessible from the beginning and still offer an enormous musical world to explore years later. Its clear harmonic structure makes it easy to understand, while its extended range opens the door to deeper harmonies, expressive melodies, and much more advanced playing.
Together with Malte, you’ll discover the musical logic behind your E Amara and learn how to actually use it. You’ll explore the layout of the instrument, understand its harmonic axis, discover which notes naturally belong together, and learn beautiful chord progressions that give your playing direction.
From there, you’ll turn that understanding into music. You’ll work through an extensive library of beginner and advanced patterns, learn how to vary and combine them, create transitions, develop melodies, and eventually bring different musical ideas together into complete songs.

Malte guides you step by step through the scale before moving into chords, patterns, and more advanced musical ideas. At the same time, there is plenty to explore for experienced players who want to understand their E Amara more deeply and expand their playing.

The course is designed for the most common E Amara 20 layout developed by Ayasa Instruments and also works with the E Amara 15 & 20 available from the Yatao Shop.
Your handpan does not need to be made by Ayasa or Yatao. If your E Amara has the same notes and layout listed below, you can easily follow the course.

While the E Amara 20 is the main instrument used throughout the course, you can also follow along with an E Amara 15. Most of the musical concepts, chord progressions, and patterns can be also transferred or adapted to other E Amara layouts.
