WIE UND WANN BIST DU AUF DIE HANDPAN GEKOMMEN?

Das erste Mal habe ich Handpanklänge in einem Video von Hang Massive gehört. Dann habe ich mit einer Freundin einen Workshop in Köln besucht.

Kurz darauf einen weiteren in Berlin. Und dann habe ich mir sehr schnell eine eigene Handpan gekauft. Das war Im Jahr 2021.

WAS BEDEUTET DIR DIE HANDPAN FÜR DICH PERSÖNLICH?

Die Handpan hat mich im Sturm erobert. Für mich ist sie ein ganz besonderes Instrument. Das Handpanspielen ist für mich Ausdruck meiner Kreativität und meiner Gefühlswelten, die sich in Form von Klängen zeigen. Die Handpan ist ein wichtiger Begleiter in meinem Leben geworden, sie hilft mir, beschwingt durchs Leben zu gehen, im Alltag Stress abzubauen und wieder zu mir zu finden. Das Spielen ist wie eine aktive Meditation.

WIE UND WO HAST DU HANDPAN SPIELEN GELERNT?

Ich habe am Anfang unzählige Onlinekurse gemacht, die wichtigsten waren wohl der allererste von David Charrier, Dan Mulquen und David Kuckhermann, später dann von Alexander Mercks und Malte Marten.

WIE INTEGRIERST DU DIE HANDPAN IN DEINEN ALLTAG?

Ich spiele immer mal zwischendurch, stundenlang abends, obwohl ich schon längst ins Bett gehen wollte, am Wochenende in der Natur an der Havel und trotzdem hätte ich immer noch gerne mehr Zeit dafür.

WAS MACHT DIR BESONDERS VIEL SPASS?

Ich liebe es, kniffelige Polyrhythmen oder schwierige Pattern zu erlernen.

Erst arbeitet nur der Kopf, der Verstand versucht alles zu verstehen, dann kommt der magische Moment, wo die Hände übernehmen und wissen, was zu tun ist. Dann ist es geschafft und ich beginne zu improvisieren.

Das macht einfach unglaublich viel Spass.

WAS HAT DICH MOTIVIERT, HANDPAN WORKSHOPS ZU GEBEN?

Ich möchte meine Begeisterung für dieses wundervolle Instrument an alle weitergeben und freue mich über jeden, der diese magische Welt mit meiner Hilfe betritt. Ich möchte zeigen, dass das Erlernen eines Instruments auch anders geht, als auf die herkömmliche klassische Weise mit Metronom und Noten, ich biete in meinen Workshops einen Raum für Selbstentfaltung und Kreativität, in dem alle gemeinsam, Schüler und Lehrer, Entdeckungen machen und sich selbst verwirklichen können.

WAS SIND DEINE MUSIKALSICHEN EINFLÜSSE UND INSPIRATIONEN?

Neben Künstlern wie Archer & Tripp, Kabeçao und Alexander Mercks hat mich vor allem Malte Marten mit seinen wundervollen Melodien inspiriert.

2024/25 habe ich das MalteMartenMethodTeachertaining bei Malte absolviert und gehöre nun zu den ersten 50 zertifizierten Handpanlehrern, die nach der MalteMartenMethod unterrichten werden.

WAS KÖNNEN TEILNEHMER*INNEN VON DEINEN WORKSHOPS ERWARTEN?

In den Anfängerworkshops stehen Leichtigkeit und das gemeinsame Entdecken der Handpan im Vordergrund.

In den Aufbauworkshops und den fortlaufenden Kursen nach der MalteMartenMethod wird es neben spielerischem Erlernen wunderschöner Pattern vor allem aber auch um die eigene Kreativität und den persönlichen Ausdruck gehen.

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU COME ACROSS THE HANDPAN?

The first time I heard handpan sounds was in a Hang Massive video. Then I attended a workshop in Cologne with a friend.

Shortly afterwards, another one in Berlin. And then I very quickly bought my own handpan. That was in 2021.

WHAT DOES THE HANDPAN MEAN TO YOU PERSONALLY?

The handpan has taken me by storm. It's a very special instrument for me. For me, playing the handpan is an expression of my creativity and my emotional worlds, which manifest themselves in the form of sounds. The handpan has become an important companion in my life, it helps me to go through life in a lively way, to reduce stress in everyday life and to find myself again. Playing is like active meditation.

HOW AND WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO PLAY HANDPAN?

At first it's just my head working, my mind trying to understand everything, then comes the magical moment when my hands take over and know what to do. Then it's done and I start to improvise.

It's just so much fun.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO GIVE HANDPAN WORKSHOPS?

I want to pass on my enthusiasm for this wonderful instrument to everyone and am happy for anyone who enters this magical world with my help. I want to show that learning an instrument can be done in a different way than the traditional classical way with metronome and sheet music. In my workshops, I offer a space for self-development and creativity in which everyone, students and teachers alike, can make discoveries and realise their own potential.

WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS?

In addition to artists such as Archer & Tripp, Kabeçao and Alexander Mercks, I was particularly inspired by Malte Marten and his wonderful melodies.

In 2024/25 I completed the MalteMartenMethodTeachertaining with Malte and am now one of the first 50 certified handpan teachers who will teach according to the MalteMartenMethod.
