TEACHER PROFILE

Julek Szczawinski

DUBAI/UAE

Music found me in my twenties. I started on the acoustic guitar, picked up various percussion instruments along the way, and honestly played on and off for years. Life has a habit of getting in the way. But I always came back to it. Music was never really something I could leave behind for long.

  • It was my wife who introduced me to the handpan. She’s a QiGong instructor, so she has a real feel for instruments that go beyond just playing, instruments that connect you to something deeper. She arranged my first lesson, and from that very first session, I knew this was something different. I’ve since built a close and lasting friendship with my teacher, which I’m truly grateful for.

What I found with the handpan is hard to put into words, but I’ll try. It feels like an extension of who I am, a way of expressing whatever I’m feeling in the moment, whether that’s calm, joy, sadness, or something in between. Every session is different, and that’s what keeps me coming back every single time.

I started teaching in the last few months of 2025, encouraged by my own teacher who could see how much I loved sharing the instrument. And honestly, teaching has become one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I especially love working with people who have never played music before, people who have always wanted to but never thought they could. Watching someone find their rhythm, feel the flow, and start to really play after just a few months is something I never get tired of.

    Harmony, Rhythm & Melody.
