Handpan Foundations is an 8-week online live program for beginners who want a clear and supported start in handpan playing.
From the first week on, you learn in a small, dedicated group and are guided by our experienced team of handpan teachers. Each week, we meet via zoom to explore new elements, play together, and answer your questions — step by step and at a steady pace.
Between the sessions, you receive focused practice tasks that help you continue with clarity at home. The Handpan Workbook supports you with thoughtful exercises and insights that deepen your understanding of the instrument.
This program is about more than technique. It’s about learning together in a supportive space where you can grow in confidence and slowly find your own flow. You’ll build a strong foundation and move naturally into more fluid and connected playing.

Hi, I’m Johann Immanuel, a passionate handpan player, teacher, and part of the Malte Marten Method team. As co-creator and host of the Teacher Training, I usually support students on their path to becoming handpan teachers. I’m especially excited to now also work directly with players at the beginning of their journey.
In my teaching, I aim to create a space where you feel at ease and build trust in your own playing. With clarity, but without pressure. With structure, yet space for your own expression. I’m really looking forward to meeting you.
