I'm Emily Zhu. I have been immersed in music since childhood, starting with piano at the age of four. With a background in music and education from both China and Canada, I have always been passionate about exploring different musical expressions.
My journey with the handpan began when I first heard its ethereal and resonant tones. Drawn to its unique sound and meditative qualities, I started playing during the COVID period and quickly discovered its profound ability to foster relaxation, creativity, and emotional connection.

In 2024, I established my handpan studio, where I offer workshops and personalized lessons to help others experience the joy of handpan music. My teaching focuses on melody and emotional expression, allowing students to develop both technical skills and a deeper musical connection. I combine structured techniques with improvisation, helping students find their own voice on the handpan.
I believe the handpan is more than just an instrument—it is a tool for self-expression, mindfulness, and well-being. Through my lessons, I aim to inspire others to explore their musical journey with confidence and creativity.
