Module II of our Teacher Training is truly the heart and soul of the entire program. Here, we come together in community, connecting in real life to learn from each other and share experiences. Our venue is a stunning retreat center, nestled in nature, where we'll dive in the world of handpan and life itself for a blissful seven days. Picture countless handpan jams, delectable cuisine, and exclusive lessons led by me personally and other esteemed MMM Handpan Teachers.
Workshops
Engage in morning and afternoon workshops covering diverse topics such as music and handpan theory, theoretical insights into the handpan, and practical exercises to enhance your technique, expression, and dynamics.
Teaching demonstration
The teaching demonstration involves preparing and delivering a 1:1 handpan session and a group handpan session, with fellow participants as your students. It's an opportunity to apply your methodological and didactical knowledge gained throughout the training, demonstrating your teaching capabilities. We support you throughout this process and conduct reflective discussions afterward to identify areas for improvement.
Concerts and collaborative jam sessions
In the evenings and spontaneously throughout the retreat, immerse yourself in live music performances and showcase your own talent. Listening to fellow musicians play is not only inspiring but also enriches your own playing. Handpan music thrives on exchange and longs to be heard. We look forward to these musical moments.
Access to instruments
Beyond the lessons, explore a variety of top-notch instruments from our favorite makers, offering you the chance to try and potentially acquire these exceptional handpans.
The retreat is rounded off with a teaching test and the awarding of a certificate as a trained “Malte Marten Method Handpan Teacher”.

The goal of this retreat is to collectively practice teaching, deepen our solo and collaborative handpan playing, and create unforgettable memories. Only after successfully completing Module I will you receive an invitation to participate in Module II, bringing you one step closer to becoming a certified MMM Handpan Teachers.
